The size the of Scene

Post by hypnosfeel »

Hello,
I would like to know what are the limitations on the scene size and number/size of objects that can be used in one scene? If I am to load an small city model from sketchup, would the computer capabilities be my only concern?

Hello,

you are not supposed to have much more than 2000 individual objects in a same scene. There is no limitation to the number of objects, but things will get slower and slower. Instead of loading a city as a collection of many objects, simple prepare your city beforehands: load the CAD data, then group/merge objects that belong together: you will end-up with a single city object, or you could end-up with several objects/models that represent individual houses, streets, etc. This will also allow you to be more modular and use house models to create new cities, by simply drag-and-dropping them into the scene, instead of having a single model that represents a whole city. Make sure to also read this tutorial about how to create clean models.

Hello,
Thank you very much. I have had a bunch of vrep models . I want to use these models to build a city or a race track. Does vrep have a limitation to the size of the track or city(eg. meters or kilometers)?

There is no direct limitation in size. You will however have to adjust the camera's/vision sensor's near/far clipping planes, etc.
