Change the frame of Solidwork imported shape?

Post by horsefacelee »

I am importing the solidwork model I draw into v-rep, however, the coordinate system it gave didn't satisfy me( I want it parrallel to world frame at the beginning), is there anyway I can change that? Or just put a dummy at the center of mass point but don't rotate it, and attached that dummy to the shape that I want to change coordinate frame?
BTW dummy has no weight nor effect on inertia right?

Hello,

you can reorient the bounding box for imported shapes with [Menu bar --> Edit --> Reorient bounding box --> ...]. You can also rotate the bounding box in the shape geometry dialog. Remember that the bounding box is always aligned with the object reference frame. Which means you are also changing the orientation of the reference frame with above operations.

A dummy does not have any weight or inertia. It does not interact dynamically, unless it is involved in a loop-closure constraint.

Cheers
