Hi,
I am trying to see how a tether would behave underwater if it is attached to an ROV that does a preset motion (like a spiral downwards). To create the tether I am going to use cylinders with spherical joints.
Currently I am stuck on how to create a water tank (5 m x 5 m x 5 m) that will provide me with the correct behaviour. How would I manage to create this water tank in such a way for it provide me with adequate results?
Also, if you have any suggestions on how I can further improve the simulation as I am a total newbie to this software, please let me know!
Thanks in advance,
Muda
How to simulate a tether in an underwater tank
Re: How to simulate a tether in an underwater tank
Hello,
simulating a fluid is not that simple, and you will have to fake things by adding gravitation-compensation forces, and drag forces. Have a look how things were done in the HCM-R5 robot (models/robots/mobile/HCM-R5.ttm). There is a demo scene on buoyancy here.
Additionally, have a look here on how you can simulate a rope. But you will be limited by the rope length (i.e. number of individual segments), if you want the rope to behave in a stable manner.
Cheers

Thanks for the suggestions and help! I will have a look at them in the next few days!coppelia wrote: ↑21 Feb 2019, 14:58 Hello,

Hello,
I want to simulate a soft rope, I do not what should I do and I cannot open your link.
Look forward to your reply!
